On July 2, the second session of NHU’s Qiuxin Lecture Series was held as scheduled. Building on the success of the inaugural session, the event featured two leading researchers from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences—Research Fellows Wu Xiaofeng and Chen Qing’an—who shared their latest insights on cutting-edge catalytic technologies with NHU’s R&D team.
Research Fellow Wu Xiaofeng delivered a presentation titled Carbonylation of High-Energy Chemical Bonds Catalyzed by Earth-Abundant Metals. Focusing on the development of low-cost catalytic systems based on earth-abundant metals, he introduced the latest advances in the selective activation of inert chemical bonds and green carbonylation processes. He also presented process optimization strategies to address common industry challenges, including reliance on precious metal catalysts and high energy consumption. His insights provided valuable technical references for NHU’s green synthesis of fine chemicals and the cost-efficient optimization of catalytic processes.
Research Fellow Chen Qing’an presented a special report titled Controlled Telomerization of Isoprene for Terpene Synthesis, highlighting the efficient conversion of bulk olefin feedstocks. Addressing key technical challenges such as product selectivity and catalyst stability in large-scale synthesis, he systematically reviewed the latest advances in olefin-directed catalysis and the green synthesis of terpenoids. His presentation broadened NHU’s technological perspectives on the high-value utilization of basic chemical feedstocks and the development of specialty fine chemicals.
Following the presentations, NHU’s R&D team engaged in in-depth discussions with the two experts on technical challenges encountered in ongoing projects and process scale-up. Drawing on their extensive research experience, the experts shared practical insights and recommendations. The lively exchange of ideas provided valuable support for future research projects and the industrialization of innovative technologies.
Looking ahead, NHU will remain committed to open collaboration, continuing to leverage the Qiuxin Lecture Series as a high-level platform for academic exchange to bring together global innovation resources and expertise. By strengthening collaboration with academia and industry, NHU will promote the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial development, creating a virtuous cycle in which technological innovation drives industrial advancement and industrial development, in turn, fuels further technological progress. Through these efforts, NHU will continue to strengthen its core competitiveness.
