Jose Robles Jr. Law, a personal injury firm with three attorneys and seven support staff, has cut its demand letter production time from roughly 20 hours to 2 to 4 hours per case using EvenUp’s AI platform, producing five times as many demands without adding staff.
Before EvenUp, the firm’s growth was capped not by client demand but by bandwidth. Attorneys and paralegals burned hours combing through case files that can top 1,000 pages of medical records, creating a 30-day bottleneck between treatment and settlement. “A 30-day delay in issuing a demand is also a 30-day delay in getting paid,” said COO Eric Hulett.
Today, every demand letter the firm sends is produced using EvenUp’s Express Demands, with drafts returned in under an hour. “With the amount of demands we’re generating already, EvenUp has easily replaced one full person, and that will keep increasing as we get more and more demands to draft,” Hulett said.
The firm estimates it now operates with roughly six fewer employees than it would otherwise need to handle its current case volume, all without spending the 60 hours it typically takes to hire and train new staff.
Rather than treat AI as a threat to jobs, the firm built a firmwide bonus program tying every employee’s pay to profitability, so paralegals and case managers share in the gains as EvenUp helps close cases faster, not just the firm’s owners.
Even so, Hulett isn’t handing out easy praise. “We’re lawyers. We don’t trust anything, so we’re going to verify everything,” he said. “But EvenUp did everything they said they were going to do.”
